strategies for long-term care homes to make the most of mealtimes, improving the quality of life for their residents.
Eating good food in the company of others is one of life’s pleasures. It is important for health and quality of life, and yet people often find their mealtime experience, food quality and meal access deteriorate as they get older. The University of Waterloo’s Heather Keller aims to do something about that. Working with Schlegel Villages, the Research Institute for Aging, and Agri-food for Healthy Aging, Keller is researching how long-term care homes can make the most of mealtimes.
Her research is helping to develop innovative strategies for promoting food intake and nutrition care of older adults.
