August 24, 2015Whitefish Bay First Nation and Lakehead University are wrapping up a five-year program focused on end of life care. Maxine Crow, who worked alongside the project, said the partnership targeted a very important topic among First Nations in Northwestern Ontario. “Whitefish Bay was involved in a five-year project with Lakehead University’s Centre for Education and Research on Aging and Health,” Crow said on Friday. “Improving end of life care on First Nations’ communities (is the goal), because none exist on First Nations’ communities.” Read the full article here

But, he warns, “People should understand I do not have a crystal ball. The fact is the model is only as good as the polls it is based on. CBC News: Laurentian researcher Sandra Dorman helps fire rangers fight fatigue
August 13, 2015Sandra Dorman has been working to help fire rangers assess when they are fatigued, and how to prevent it from leading to injury on the job. Dorman is the director of the The Centre for Research in Occupational Safety and Health at Laurentian University.
