Environment & Sustainability

Ecosystems and climate systems are so massively complex and multifaceted that it often takes a team of dedicated researchers, each with a different kind of expertise, to unravel useful truths about what is happening to our earth, air and water. Nobody is better suited to do this than universities.

And, while it would be disingenuous to suggest that academics stay out of the political fray that accompanies environmental issues (it would be odd if they did), they have the unique advantage of being required to submit their work to impartial peer review. This means that, whatever political opinions they might hold, whatever they believe should or should not be done to protect the planet, the data from which they form their convictions must conform to high standards of rigour and due diligence.
