From intelligent cars to quantum computers, and from 3-D printing to nano-bots, Ontario university researchers are improving current technologies, and also exploring new intellectual frontiers that will lead to the next great technological revolution.

For many people, research is synonymous with technological development. And there is no doubt that human progress has always been deeply entangled with technological progress. The advance of technology, though, has been accelerating – from the industrial revolution to the information revolution, each change comes more quickly than the last. How, with our incrementally evolving brains and communities, are human beings supposed to keep up?

Some say the problem contains its own answer – use technology to keep up with technology. But of course, humanity is not obsolete yet. Ontario university researchers are both driving technological change, and also ensuring that these changes have a net benefit to the people who use them.
